A group of plucky botanists braved the rain for a crash course in field guides and online keys. Most of us had an initial knowledge of plant identification. This gave us a head start allowing big gains in our skill levels in the short session.

A major goal of the session was to get everyone comfortable using the Tropical Rainforest Key. Following the resource ID session, then coffee and cake, we went for a short walk to discuss common features in some well known plant families.

The session went so well, everyone opted to continue identifying plants even after the treeforce crew was done at midday. Thanks for being a great audience guys!

This event sponsored by the collaboration between Treeforce and Queensland Department of Environment and Science

Thanks also to the Australian Tropical Herbarium at JCU for encouraging us to demonstrate the Tropical Rainforest Key. https://www.jcu.edu.au/…/online-keys-to-australian…
