The day was hot, but the birds were undeterred.
A plucky group of birders attended a great introduction to the art of twitching. We got quite a good show from the complex of river, rainforest and grassland at the heart of radjiir Island. Thanks to our guides Denis Walls, Mikey Kudo, Malcolm, and Brett Armstrong for a great outing.
Our species list included: Channel Billed Cuckoo, Little Bronze Cuckoo, Crimson Finch, Yellow Honey Eater, Rainbow Bee Eater, Metalic Starling, Spangled Drongo, Double eyed Fig Parrots, Yellow Oriole, Torresian Imperial Pigeon, Cockatoo, Australian Bustard, Brown Honey Eater, Olive Backed Oriole, brown falcon, Rainbow Lorikeet, Masked Lapwing Plover, welcome swallow, PeeWee, Willie Wagtail.
This event hosted with big thanks to Cairns Birders, and in collaboration with the QLD Department of Environment and Science.
