Over 30 volunteers from Treeforce and CAFNEC planted 180 trees in the swampy mud. The excellent guest speakers were Jon Metcalfe and Brynn Mathews.
This was the first in a series of partnership plantings between Treeforce, Cafnec and Cairns Regional Council to reduce the Guinea Grass and Leucaena in the Cairns Central Swamp (L. leucocephala is considered one of the 100 worst invasive species by the Invasive Species Specialist Group of the IUCN Species Survival Commission).
