Hi All – Nature watered our trees last week so there has been a change of venue for our Christmas break up. We only found out on Saturday that the Cairns Regional Council are having a tree planting at Cattana Wetlands for Tropical Tree Day starting 8am, and thought it would be a great idea to support them.

It will also be a fun way to end the year by joining in with a larger group planting trees. Planting is from 8am to 10 followed by a supplied BBQ.The Cattana Wetlands is around 80 hectares of degraded land which Council has rehabilitated into a nature conservation park. It is situated off Dunne Road in Smithfield, accessed by either Yorkeys Knob Road or McGregor Road, approximately 20km north of the CBD. At this stage I don’t think we need to bring anything except sun smart gear, gloves and water.
